Obesity Is Reaching Epidemic Proportions

October 8, 2008 by Susan Denny

I was in an airport over the weekend and the one thing I noticed above everything else, was how many overweight people there were.

It was almost like an epidemic and the biggest shock was how many obese kids there were. But, I have to say, it wasn’t very surprising when I saw these kids tucking into burgers, chips, milkshakes, chocolates and just about everything else that was bad for them. And, the parents were the ones buying the food and drink.

What is wrong with parents today that they let their kids get this way? They have to take responsibility and not blame advertising or the prevalance of junk food. It’s up to them to teach their kids about being healthy and getting enough exercise.

I have 6 grandchildren ranging in age from 16 years to 20 months, and not one of these kids is overweight. Their parents monitor what they eat and they also regulate their exercise. They have all the computer games like X-Box and Wii, but their time on the computer is strictly limited and they are encouraged to participate in outdoor activities.

When I was growing up we were more active as we didn’t have the luxury of computer games and we also didn’t have so much junk food available to us. Our parents were not as affluent as most people are these days, and couldn’t afford to buy junk food anyway. About once a month our treat was fish and chips, and we were happy because we didn’t know any better.

Just think of the medical costs in the years to come when dealing with obesity. It doesn’t just affect the obese person, it affects the whole of society and we’ll be the ones to pay for it in the future.

We have to start educating kids from an early age how to be fit and healthy so that future generations won’t end up facing the same health problems we have today.

Spring Has Sprung…Time To Get Fit and Healthy!

Now that Spring is here in Australia, it’s time to get fit and healthy for Summer. It’s time to get rid of those few extra kilos put on over Winter and start the Fit Yummy Mummy Program.

We spend our Winter months eating comfort foods like curries and casseroles, so as a result it’s only natural that we put on extra weight. I don’t know about you, but I always feel a bit "stodgy" once Winter is over and can’t wait to eat lots of salads again.

It’s also the time to exercise and tone our bodies up once again. I’m not one for going out much in the Winter to exercise. For a start I don’t like cold weather and I like staying in my bed where it’s cosy and warm! I live in Queensland which has a very temperate climate, but I still feel the cold even though it’s a whole lot warmer than in the south of the country.

Motivating yourself to get out and exercise can be very hard for some people, myself included. I’m either extremely busy or can’t be bothered. Do you know someone like that? With the Fit Yummy Mummy Program, you don’t even have to leave your house. You can sign up for the FREE eCourse by clicking HERE.

If you’re happy with the eCourse and you’d like to purchase the complete program, one of the bonuses is an excellent meal planner, which is full of delicious, nutritious recipes, and will help you shed the kilos.

You can’t be fit and healthy without a diet and exercise program, and the beauty of the Fit Yummy Mummy Program is that it can all be done in your own home. Just think, no more gym fees and you get to eat delicious, nutritious meals everyday.

Creating Future Entrepreneurs

August 24, 2008 by Susan Denny

I was reading a story from my local newspaper today about a 31 year old woman, a real entrepreneur, who took the risk of going into business to teach different types of dance to students.

This had been a goal since she started dancing lessons as a child, and her dream had always been to have her own dance studio. Well she did it and now has a very successful business.

It made me think of all the obstacles she would have faced before getting to where she is now. She would have to face the following challenges:

  • Finding a studio in the right location
  • Finding a studio with reasonable rent
  • Finding a real estate agent who would be willing to rent out premises to someone with no prior financial history in real estate
  • Possibly going to financial institutions to ask for a loan to fit out her studio
  • Having enough money to advertise her studio and what she had to offer by the way of classes
  • Being able to pay dance teachers
  • Attracting enough students to pay all her bills and in due time, make a profit

It seems to me that you would have to be very persistent and patient to realize your dream of becoming an entrepreneur, but a lot of people do it and have become very successful.

There’s a risk, of course, that it will not turn out as you had hoped, but if you don’t step out of your "comfort zone" and be willing to do something that no one else will, then you’ll stay the same as you are and fit in with the majority of the population.

We need more entrepreneurs to step out and show that they are willing to put everything on the line to succeed at their chosen profession and in doing so, leading the way for more people to follow in their footsteps.

Anxiety and Depression Treatments

It’s normal for us to feel a little stress sometimes, but when that develops into anxiety and panic attacks, then we know something is wrong.

If your anxiety is overwhelming and distressing and is preventing you from functioning normally, then you may have to seek out conventional treatments for anxiety and depression.

Before you get to that point though, there are other anxiety and depression treatments you can do to help lessen the symptoms, and over time, you may be able to rid yourself of the stress completely.

  • Make sure that you eliminate from your diet all caffeine products, as they can bring your mood down faster than anything else.
  • Try some relaxation therapy. You don’t even have to leave your home to do this. Just put on a gentle music CD and concentrate on the music. It helps shut out the negative self talk.
  • Doing some mild exercise can also help clear your mind as well as keeping you physically fit. Once again there’s no need to leave your home and go to a gym, which you wouldn’t feel like going to anyway. You can walk around in your own backyard, or follow an exercise program on DVD. Do whatever it takes to keep you moving.
  • Consider using alternative medicines. Using Chinese medicine may be something you can consider, after all, they’ve been treating many illnesses for centuries. If that’s not for you then maybe a Naturopath can help you. There are a lot of choices.

We are very lucky these days in that there are so many different anxiety and depression treatments. All it takes is a bit of research and putting your hand out to ask for help.

Don’t Be A Couch Potato

We all know that the only way to get fit is to get up off the couch and move!

Everyone knows that our present day society is not as fit as it could be, and part of the problem is that we all have very busy lifestyles and don’t try to fit in a walk or a jog into our daily routine. If we did we’d certainly feel the better for it.

They key to being fit all starts with the mindset. You have to want to exercise and set a goal to exercise at least once a day.

Why Are So Many Kids Contracting Diabetes?

August 7, 2008 by Susan Denny

Our society today has a lot to answer for especially when we see so many overweight kids

The biggest factor in the overall increase of children’s weight gain, is their diet. And who is to blame? The parent’s of course, as they have a responsibility to keep their children fit and healthy.

If you keep feeding your kids fats and sugars that the body can’t process properly… then eventually the pancreas, which is responsible for insulin production, starts experiencing serious difficulties.

The pancreas becomes so severely damaged, that it eventually produces less and less insulin until your child is diagnosed with Diabetes. This is not something you want to hear from your doctor.

A lack of exercise is also a contributing factor. With the advent of more and more computer games, our kids are becoming lazy and would rather sit in front of a computer all day. It’s very rare to see children riding a bike or playing with a ball these days.

If you are willing to help your child overcome diabetes with diet and exercise, then there are ways to get the body back into full health, within a short amount of time, and it’s all covered in an ebook. The items covered are:
  • 3 ingredients will instantly clean your pancreas from acids, and it’s possible to drastically slash your blood sugar levels in weeks, not months!
  • Discover 5 critical ingredients for a healthy body at all times (99% of people don’t get enough of at least 3 of them… and it’s seriously damaging to the way your body removes waste, charges your immune system… and… produces insulin!
  • One “space-age”, Nobel-prize winning ingredient that hardly anyone knows about… yet a small group of leading scientists and doctors can’t stop raving about because of its “immune system-boost”… and health-benefits for hormones like insulin.
So what are you going to do? Are you going to take the right steps to help your child regain full health and fitness? If you want to find out more then click HERE.

Now, before we begin, I need to make sure we are clear on this up front….THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS when it comes to Losing Body Fat! There is nothing you can "skip over" to save more time or get to the end result faster.

What you NEED to Know to go from Frazzled and Frumpy to Fit and Yummy.

  • Each pound of fat equals 3500 calories. To Lose 1lb. of Fat you must create a deficit of 3500 calories. (500 calories less a day so in 1 week you’ll lose 1 pound of fat)
  • Healthy fat loss is about 1-2 pounds of body fat each week
  • Eating 500 less calories a day is much easier than burning off 500 calories a day.
  • Dieting without exercise is a dead end. Starving yourself to lose 1 to 2 pounds each week will bring your metabolism to a screeching halt, increase stress, craving and mood swings.
  • Eating supportive foods every 3 to 4 hours burns more calories and creates a healthy, thriving metabolism.
  • Short Burst Exercise not only boosts your metabolism and burns more fat, it is energizing and is the only way to Re-Shape your "Mommy Body"
  • Both Nutrition and Exercise are Vital to Boosting your Metabolism to meet and exceed your fat loss goals

The Truth About Fitness

5 Facts You MUST Understand if You Are Ever Going to Lose Your Belly Fat & Get Six Pack Abs

1. Many so-called “health foods” are actually cleverly disguised junk foods that actually stimulate you to gain more belly fat… yet the diet food marketing industry continues to lie to you so they can maximize their profits.

2. Ab exercises like crunches, sit-ups, and ab machines are the LEAST effective method of getting flat six pack abs. We’ll explore what types of exercises REALLY work in a minute.

3. Boring repetitive cardio exercise routines are NOT the best way to lose body fat and uncover those six pack abs. I’ll show you the exact types of unique workouts that produce 10x better results below.

4. You DON’T need to waste your money on expensive “extreme fat burner” pills (that don’t work) or other bogus supplements. A special class of natural foods is much more effective. I’ll tell you about these natural foods and their powers below.

5. Ab belts, ab-rockers, ab-loungers, and other infomercial ab-gimmicks… they’re all a complete waste of your time and money. Despite the misleading infomercials, the perfectly chiseled fitness models in the commercials did NOT get their perfect body by using that “ab contraption”… they got their perfect body through REAL workouts and REAL nutrition strategies. Again, you’ll learn some of their secrets and what really works below.

Think about this… if what you’ve been doing all these years hasn’t been getting you the results you want, doing more of that same thing won’t get you any further!  If doing 4 hours of cardio a week hasn’t worked for you, why do you believe that doing 7 hours of cardio will?

If doing 100 crunches a day hasn’t gotten you the results you want, why do you think that doing 200 crunches a day will?  Of course you remember that doing the same things over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity!

The truth is that all of these techniques are WRONG and ineffective ways to workout.  In fact, doing excessive cardio is actually working against your results because you are stimulating excessive cortisol production in your body and breaking down lean muscle tissue… all of which leads to the slowing down of your metabolic rate over time and deposition of even more belly fat on top of what you already have.

Also, wasting most of your workout time with ineffective abs exercises such as crunches, situps, and torso twists actually goes directly against your fat loss efforts as well.  You see, the time you waste with doing all of these fairly ineffective abs exercises, is really just keeping you from doing the truly effective full body exercise combinations that actually stimulate your fat burning hormones and increase your metabolic rate for as much as 24-48 hours after each workout.  You don’t get that with “ab workouts” or “cardio”!

When you get these types of full body metabolic-surge workouts right, the excess belly fat starts to melt off quicker than you ever could have imagined.  Yes, it IS going to take a little work though. You’re not going to be able to just be lazy and sit on the couch every day hoping for your dream body to come true.  Don’t worry though, it’s a system that can be applied by anyone, regardless of your age or current conditioning.

Over the last 10 years of training and consulting hundreds of women on nutrition, quite a few patterns started to emerge and I noticed most women were falling into many of the same traps. Some of them I mentioned above with the excess cardio, the time wasted doing crunches & situps, the bogus fat-burner pills, the worthless ab gadgets, the grocery store mistakes, and the failed diets time and time again.

Time and time again I even saw my friends and family just being flat-out scammed by the unscrupulous marketers in the fitness industry selling you all of this garbage that isn’t going to do anything at all to change your body for the better… It’s only going to make their wallets fatter!

This is an innovative scientifically-based fitness program that has finally revealed the truth about abdominals, stomach fat & love handles, and is helping tens of thousands of people around the world to finally conquer their struggle.

This information is from some of the best legitimate exercise research journals out there, as well as countless books from some of the best strength coaches and trainers in the world, and soaking up the info from some of the best nutritional books and journals from the top authorities in the world on the subject.

You’ll get your pre-baby body back. Despite what others have told you, you actually can get back to wearing regular jeans (and even sizes smaller than before pregnancy!), thanks to the simple Fit Yummy Mummy system. It’s not unusual for a Fit Yummy Mummy to say she looks better now than she did in her early 20’s, even when she was doing hours and hours of aerobics each week.

You’ll get fit in under 90 minutes per week. That’s not a typo. Most women think you need 90 minutes per day to get fit and burn the belly fat. But not if you exercise the Fit Yummy Mummy way. You’ll get more results in less time with exercises you can do at home with minimal equipment - sometimes all you need is your own bodyweight. And you don’t have to sacrifice quality time with your kids, or time better spent preparing meals and taking care of your family.

You’ll help your family eat a variety of delicious, nourishing foods and avoid fad crash diets forever. The latest celebrity crash diet is only going to make you even more tired and exhausted than usual. Restricting yourself to only one fruit or type of juice while trying to be a busy Mom never works, and only causes you to crash, while doing nothing for your belly fat. With our proven meal planning tips, you’ll have the energy to keep up to your kids AND you’ll have a happy, healthy family fueled by nourishing foods, not the “take-out of the night” that only leaves them tired, overweight, and with bad eating habits for life.

You’ve read about Hollywood celebs with their personal trainers and marathon exercise programs, but who has the 2 hours (and money!) per day to drive to a studio, do a 1 hour workout (or one of those longer 90 minute classes - what are they thinking!?), and drive back? You don’t need a 90 minute class each day when you can use the Fit Yummy Mummy program of only 90 minutes per week!
